SOMESHA PROGRAM

The SOMESHA program was born out of a need to address the displacement and vulnerability caused by the post presidential violence in 2007, ensuring that children affected by the turmoil could continue their education and rebuild their lives .  The program has played a role in battling the negative influences of groups like the Mungiki gang by enrolling girls and boys to SOMESHA program putting a stop to violence, early marriages, and other social issues. By keeping children in school and away from these dangers, the program helps reduce crime and other harmful activities, breaking cycles of poverty and transforming lives. The program not only provides education but also fosters peace and stability in communities affected by violence. This approach helps to create a lasting impact, giving children the tools they need to escape poverty and lead better lives . The SOMESHA program has made a notable impact in Mowlem settlement, Nairobi, and other counties by supporting from 3 years, primary and high school learners with education materials and fee payments. This support ensures that children who would otherwise miss out on education can continue their studies and pursue brighter futures .

The program is unique in that it is completely free for all vulnerable children  from families, street and in the orphanages removing the financial barriers that often prevent them from accessing education. By covering the costs of fees, uniforms, books, and other necessities, the program provides opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach for these children.
